world. They are mainly concentrated in the Mediterranean region.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This crop is of great economic importance as it is a source of olive oil and table olives.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The olive tree, in the wild, is called acebuche. In this way, it provides small olives with little yield in terms of oil. However, when olive trees are cared for, the number and size of olives they produce are increased, as is the amount of oil they spring<\/strong>.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00b7How are olive trees planted?<\/h3><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Generally, the commercial cultivation of the olive tree is carried out <strong>from grafts,<\/strong> since in this way the uniformity of the cultivation and better quality of the product is achieved, compared to sowing seeds.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for the distance between trees, they are often planted with a distance of 6&#215;6 meters.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Edaphoclimatic requirements<\/strong><\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00b7Soil<\/h3><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Olive trees are a very rustic species that can grow practically in all types of soils, however, they <strong>prefer flat or slightly sloping soils, sandy loam, well drained, without excessive humidity and rich in organic matter.<\/strong> In addition, the pH must range between 5.5 and 8 and they are very tolerant to salinity.<\/p><h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00b7Climate<\/h3><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ideal climate for olive trees is the <strong>Mediterranean climate<\/strong>. They like direct exposure to sunlight and do not tolerate temperatures below 20<sup>o<\/sup>C for several days in a row. It is recommended to plant at least three different varieties in the same plot to ensure pollination. Pollen is transmitted mainly by the wind.<\/p><h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>\u00bb<\/strong> <strong>Nutrients necessary for the cultivation of olive trees<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main nutrients that olive trees require are:<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Macronutrients<\/strong><\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li><strong>Nitrogen<\/strong>: the most important nutrient for olive trees, necessary for the germination and formation of olives<\/li><li><strong>Phosphorus:<\/strong> when the olive trees are young, it favors the development of the roots. In addition, this element accelerates ripening and improves flowering and fruit set.<\/li><li><strong>Potassium:<\/strong> key in the formation of carbohydrates and fats, the opening and closing of stomata, photosynthesis, resistance to stress and the size and quality of the fruits<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Micronutrients<\/strong><\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li><strong>Calcium:<\/strong> reduces the possibility of diseases<\/li><li><strong>Magnesium:<\/strong> central part of the chlorophyll molecule<\/li><li><strong>Boron:<\/strong> It&#8217;s essential in the metabolism and transport of sugars<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fertilizer for olive trees<\/strong><\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li>What fertilizers does the olive tree need in its cultivation?<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we have already seen in the previous section, the main components that the olive tree fertilizer must contain are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and boron.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For the <strong>organic cultivation of olive trees<\/strong>, organic fertilizers will be applied, such as manure, compost or earthworm humus, as well as those formulated based on algae, minerals or other natural elements.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Decomposing organic matter improves soil conditions and texture, regulates pH, conserves soil moisture, activates soil microorganisms, and increases nutrient uptake.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of the fertilizers recommended for growing Fervalle olive trees are Nitrux, Fosmax, Potasium Plus or Brotovalle N.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fervalle.com\/en\/producto\/nitrux\/\">Nitrux<\/a> is a fertilizer with a high nitrogen content, ideal for providing olive trees with the doses of nitrogen they need. Its advantages include:<\/p><ul style=\"text-align: justify;\"><li>Tree roots rapidly absorb urea nitrogen, being a direct source of nitrogen necessary for plant growth and development.<\/li><li>It is not leached, but the urea-formaldehyde nitrogen is conserved in the soil in a stable way<\/li><li>The increase in temperature and the action of beneficial microorganisms will gradually break down the fertilizer and provide energy to the plant.<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fervalle.com\/fosmax\/\">Fosmax<\/a> presents a formulation of phosphorus and potassium of high assimilation along with calcium and other micronutrients.
